(FOOD RECALL, NATIONAL) – The Canada Food Inspection Agency has issued an update to a previous food recall regarding a Schneiders brand weiner hotdogs over an allergy concern.

There have been no illnesses reported, although earlier in October, there was a report of someone having a reaction after the product was consumed.

The recall date is November 8th, 2018 and the reason is for an undeclared allergen (milk), being in the product. Maple Leaf Foods Inc. is the company that makes Schneiders Brand Country Natural Weiner. The extent of the recall is national.

Recall details

Ottawa, November 8, 2018 – The food recall warning issued on October 17, 2018 has been updated to include additional product information. This additional information was identified during the Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s (CFIA) food safety investigation.

Maple Leaf Foods Inc. is recalling Schneiders brand Country Naturals Wieners from the marketplace because they may contain milk which is not declared on the label. People with an allergy to milk should not consume the recalled product described below.

What you should do

Check to see if you have recalled products in your home. Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the store where they were purchased.

If you have an allergy to milk, do not consume the recalled product as it may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction.

Background

This recall was triggered by a consumer complaint. The CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products. If other high-risk products are recalled, the CFIA will notify the public through updated Food Recall Warnings.

The CFIA is verifying that industry is removing recalled product from the marketplace.

There have been no reported reactions associated with the consumption of these product codes. There was one reported reaction associated with the product code described in the Food Recall Warning of October 17, 2018.
