(THUNDER BAY, ON) – Around 3:00 pm yesterday, members of the Thunder Bay Police Service, Thunder Bay Fire & Rescue and Superior North EMS responded to an intercity incident that had traffic slowed to a crawl.
First responders headed out to the intersection of Memorial Ave and the Harbour Expressway after a 911 call reported that a forklift had fallen off a transport and into the intersection.
Once our hardworking teams of first responders got to the scene, they observed a pallet that had equipment on it was also on the roadway. The investigation revealed that a load had shifted and resulted in the forklift and pallet breaking loose and smashing into the roadway.
The transport also suffered some damage as well.
The forklift uses propane as it’s fuel, which called for the firefights on the scene to secure that explosive substance. There were no injuries from this incident.
TBPS was on scene and investigating the situation but has not released any information pertaining to any possible charges as of the time of this article being published. Watch the video we obtained from Dan K, below.
