(THUNDER BAY, ON) – The lightning and thunder crashed and boomed in the bay of thunder late this afternoon, but one tree got too much boom.
Lightning is said to have struck the tree, causing it to come crashing down on Brown Street, blocking the south bound lane.
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue responded to the scene, and were removing as much of the tree by hand, to restore a higher level of safety to the area.
City crews are being dispatched to remove the remainder of the tree, which has a roughly 18 inch trunk.
The tree is down on Brown, and Caroline is the nearest intersection. If you are travelling through this area, please try to plan an alternative route that will avoid the section of Brown, so that city crews and Thunder Bay Fire Rescue can work safely.
