(THUNDER BAY, ON) – WANTED MAN DONALD MORIN ARRESTED BY THUNDER BAY POLICE FOR DRUGGED DRIVING AND STEALING DRUGS.
ANOTHER MASSIVE FAIL BY THE DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS AT TBPS.
Appearing by video this morning Sunday January 20,2019 from the Thunder Bay Police Station is 31 year old DONALD MORIN.
It’s W.A.S.H. (Weekend And Statutory Holiday) Court today. Her Worship, Jennifer Neill is presiding. Provincial Crown Tamara Fairchild is here along with Duty Counsel Tyra Ohman.
MORIN appears to be moving very slowly and tells the court he is injured from a recent car accident.
MORIN was arrested last evening by Thunder Bay Police on an arrest warrant. The Director of Communications put up his picture on Wanted Wednesday last fall and then took it down. But MORIN was wanted since November 23,2018 for failing to appear in court.
The court hears that MORIN has outstanding arrest warrants from Barrie, Ontario as well.
MORIN is facing allegations here in Thunder Bay.
On February 1,2018, it’s alleged that MORIN went into room T2 at the Thunder Bay Hospital and broke open a medicine cabinet and stole several bottles of medication. Six bottles of Diazepam (Valium) and 2 bottles of Midazolam. Also stolen were syringes.
Hospital security allegedly intercepted MORIN with all the stolen goods on his person. TBPS were called and MORIN was arrested, charged and released.
On October 28,2018 at 1:51am, Thunder Bay Police were notified of a 2004 black Chevy truck in the parking lot of McDonalds on Arthur Street West. The driver was unconscious slumped over the wheel. The vehicle was registered to DONALD MORIN. TBPS officers were able to wake MORIN. He allegedly had glossy eyes and slurred speech. Two pills were visibly spotted on top of driver’s console. Upon further search of the vehicle, officers discovered a baggie with a variety of pills and syringes. Xanax, Ativan and muscle relaxers were in the baggie. The baggie has playboy bunny logos on it. On his way to police station, he was passing in and out of consciousness. A drug recognition expert determined him to be impaired by drugs. He was charged and released.
MORIN failed to attend his November 23,2018 court date. A bench warrant was issued for his arrest. The Director of Communications at TBPS failed to put out a notice on Wanted Wednesday after that.
MORIN tells the court that he’s an underground mechanic working at Barrick Gold in Marathon, Ontario and that he has a residence in Wasaga Beach. He was staying in Thunder Bay at the Airlane Hotel because he’s doing rehab as a result of recent car accident.
Due to his residence being more than 200 Kilometres away, a cash deposit will be required for bail. The court sets bail at 2000$ cash deposit and sets out conditions.
MORIN is NOT allowed to operate a vehicle until all his charges are dealt with. He’s not allowed at Thunder Bay Hospital unless it’s an emergency.
MORIN informs the court that he won’t have the money until this Tuesday.
He’s informed that he will be staying in the Thunder Bay Jail until the 2000$ deposit is made.
MORIN walks away complaining he has health problems. He will appear by video tomorrow from the Thunder Bay Jail
