(THUNDER BAY, ON) – First Avenue and Ontario Street have been dealing with a slew of issues after an incident happened today.
A resident in the area tells us that a vehicle struck a fire hydrant which then resulted in the area being flooded.
All homes in the area are without water and are expected to be possibly until tomorrow sometime.
Backyards, basements, sidewalks and portions of the street were hit with water which turned slushy in some areas and mixed with the snowfall we had.
City crews were dispatched to the area and are working hard to repair the broken waterline and soak up the water from the area.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area for at least today and tomorrow while crews are working to repair the damage. A portion of First Avenue is currently closed in the eastbound lane.
