(THUNDER BAY, ON) – Less than 24 hours ago, Confederation College announced that their computer systems had been compromised.
Below is an update to the situation provided by them.
Thank you to everyone for your patience and understanding as we work through our response to the malware incident that began on February 1, 2020.
With the guidance of our third party cyber expert, our IT team has been working diligently to address this issue. We anticipate that some core IT services will be restored shortly after 8:30am ET on Monday, February 3, 2020. Classes and operations will continue as scheduled. All students and employees should report to classes and work as usual.
All College account users must reboot/restart their computers. Once complete and users are able to log in to their College account, they will be required to set a new password. This is an action of the College, as an added security precaution. A reminder that users will also need to login to access wifi on campus. Visitors to campus should select the ConfedGuest wifi option.
We will provide an update on our @Confederation Facebook and Twitter pages to confirm which services have been restored. Should any students require accommodations for coursework/deadlines as a result of this incident, please discuss with your faculty. New applicants are asked to remain patient as some Offers of Admission and some other Registrar communications have been temporarily delayed.
