KEMP did not appear in court, so a trial was held in absentia. KEMP also failed to appear for his October and December court dates despite the fact that he was properly served with notice.

Crown Attorney Derrick Silvestro calls the first and only witness, Officer Mike Nordal of Thunder Bay Police Services.

Officer Nordal is a dedicated police officer who was on uniform patrol the evening of September 24, 2018. At 12:23 am he observed a blue Ford F-150 turning onto Arthur Street from May Street and then proceeded to turn left on Syndicate and it was driving down the bicycle lane. Officer Nordal initiated a traffic stop at that point.

JORDAN LEE KEMP was the driver and registered owner of the truck. He had no valid insurance on his vehicle. Officer Nordal served him a ticket to appear in Provincial Offences Court.

KEMP’S driving record has several speeding convictions.

KEMP has never appeared in court.

The Crown has made its case and His Worship Donio imposes the fine.

As per usual practice, the Director of Communications at TBPS refuses to highlight any hard work being done by TBPS officers.
