(THUNDER BAY, ON) – Appearing in courtroom 104 of the Thunder Bay Courthouse is 70-year-old Michael Danial Bewcyk via video from the Thunder Bay District Jail.

Justice of the Peace Bruce Leaman presiding. Crown Attorney Pasloski and Duty Council lawyer Vallelongo are in the courtroom.


Michael Danial Bewcyk, aged 70 was charged with violating his court ordered prohibition to not be anywhere that people under 16 are likely to be, or are.

Police investigation discovered he had been volunteering at a local church event by flipping burgers on August 25th.

Police also saw Bewcyk on August 26th talking with two girls, aged in the single digit range, on May Street. It is alleged he grabbed one girl and she was put on the back of his ebike.


Bewcyk was seen by Thunder Bay Police Service officers driving down May Street with a minor on his ebike without s helmet on.

After looking into who Bewcyk is, and his prohibition, Bewcyk was arrested.

The May Street incident is still under investigation, and more charges can be expected to be laid soon.

Sources have indicated that more victims are coming forward to police with their allegations of interactions with Bewcyk.


Bewcyk is said to have a “gross indecency” charge ready to be laid, in what is expected to be s large list of charges upcoming, such as Child Abduction and Child Endangerment at the least.

Sources indicate that Bewcyk may have been masturbating under a bench while watching kids swimming.

Today, Bewcyk was remanded in custody pending a court date tomorrow, to set a date for a bail hearing.


Bewcyk has apparently not made contact with his lawyer of choice George Joseph, which has thwarted any posssibility of being released today.

There was two people in the body of the court today that are close to Bewcyk.

About 20 seriously concerned citizens showed up in court today to protest Bewcyks release. When the crown stated that she was opposed to his release, a round of applause erupted in the courtroom.

Bewcyk is scheduled to appear by video in courtroom 104 on Friday August 31st on the 12:45 list.


Come out and show this family support, and the court system that we do not want him released.
