(THUNDER BAY, ON) – After a blank in 1 Jacobs makes a double and sticks for 3 in the second against Team De Cruz. Forcing De Cruz to 1 in the third Jacobs made a run back double that didn’t quite make it far enough. The team picking up only 1 heads into the break with a 4-1 lead.

Brad Jacobs clears a few to get out of big trouble but leaves a draw for 2 which is made by De Cruz, 4-3 Jacobs with 3 ends left. Open house laying 1 Team Jacobs comfortably sweeps in a 2nd point to go up 6-3 in the 6th. Blanking the 7th end Team De Cruz maintains hammer down by 3 coming home. Jacobs’ eyes up a triple taking out two De Cruz stones and one of his own running the Swiss team out of rocks and punching his ticket to the final.

Team Homan takes on Nina Roth from the USA on sheet B. A blank in 1 Homan takes the hammer into the second end. Forcing the Ottawa skip to draw she sailed it through the house to give uo the steal. Regrouped Team Homan was able to pop a 3 in the third to take a 3-1 lead. With a chance to blank the USA skip hits and sticks and takes one down 3-2 headed into the break.

After an exchange of singles Team Homan is up 4-2 after 5. Scoring 2 in the 6th end Team Roth even the score 4-4. After a beauty run back by Roth, Homan draws to the pin to go 1 up without headed to the 8th. After a hack-weight take out by Rachel, Team Roth made their draw for 1 and hung on to force it to an extra end. A hit and roll out with her last shot Roth leaves Homan a draw anywhere in the house and she put it on the pin  for the W.

Battle of the Manitoba teams, Team Fleury with Einaeson’s old team takes on the newly formed Team Einarson filled with 4 tradition skips. What may be a provincial final or playoff match the tension was tight between the two teams.

Forced to 1 in 1 Fleury was able to steal in 2 and take a 2-0 lead into the 4th end. Tracey with a draw to the four foot gets her 2 in the 5th end to go up 4-2.  Holding team Einarson to 1 in the 6th, Team Fleury takes 2 in the 7th and goes up by 3 headed into the final end. With a double to clear the house, Team Fleury secures their spot in Sunday’s final winning 6-3.

On sheet D finishing up the semi-finals last year’s Briar runner-up Team Bottcher beat Team Howard 5-2 and move into the finals.

The tournament wraps up tomorrow with Team Fleury and Team Homan facing off in the Women’s final at 12:00 pm while Team Bottcher and Team Jacobs will duel it out in the men’s final at 4:00 pm. Catch the action live at the Tournament Center or on Sportsnet.
