(THUNDER BAY, ON) – A huge police presence is unfolding on Finlayson this morning during the 6:00 am hour.

Police have been seen taking cover behind civilian vehicles and focusing on one particular residence.

REAL Concerned Citizens in the area have told us that the Emergency Task Unit is on location with large guns, telling people they can’t get near the home.

Vehicles are also being turned back at the police blockade. There is also an ambulance appearing to be on standby.

There are a number of known drug trafficking houses on Finlayson.

This would be about the 6th drug bust in the last 7 days. Thank you for your hard work Ontario Provincial Police and Thunder Bay Police Service.

Please avoid the area as police are working and don’t need distractions.

*** UPDATE: The scene has cleared as of 7:43 am, according to witnesses in the area.

*** UPDATE @ 8:43 am: We have unconfirmed information about what may have unfolded this morning on Finlayson. A source has indicated that an older gentlemen was visiting a friend when he was attacked by a well-known nuisance in the city. The criminal demanded money and started assaulting the victim. The victim managed to shelter himself in a basement apartment and dialled 911.

Police responded to the scene with an abundance of caution and cleared the scene a short time later.

The suspect is believed to be at large, and possibly has pitbull-mix puppies for sale, unless they have already been sold.
