Person of Interest in Chiodo Mission Island Murder

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – The Thunder Bay Police Service is reaching out to the public to identify a person of interest in a surveillance video they released today. The video was recorded on the evening of Saturday, February 23rd.

It is believed Lee Vincent Chiodo was murdered and his body dumped on Mission Island. Sources indicate he was shot with a gun.

Police describe the person of interest as:

  • Black male
  • 6-foot 4-inches tall
  • Athletic build
  • Grey track suit
  • 40-49 years old

A passerby discovered what they believed may have been a body on Mission Island on Sunday. First responders arrived to find a body frozen stiff and partially covered in snow. 40-year-old Lee Vincent Chiodo was identified by police later on as being the victim.

Geoff Corbeil, who was murdered earlier this year by Toronto gang members who have a similar description to this person of interest, had ties to Lee Chiodo. It is believed both murders were targeted and drug-trafficking related.

Police have set up a dedicated tip line 684-1545 for anyone to call in and assist investigators.
