To The Editor:

It seems that the City has decided to add sodium hydroxide to the drinking water lines to the extent of 2 ml. per litre each day to achieve a Ph of 9:5 and perhaps retard corrosion. The City Manager(s) involved have no doubt followed C.Y.A. guidelines in their decision.

Incidentally, as the population ages in Thunder Bay, more and more people are experiencing high blood pressure requiring medication and sodium reduction in their diet. As well, more people are on dialysis or pre-dialysis because their kidneys have failed. They, as well, are sodium restricted.

In this regard, one would expect that those City Managers have talked to the real experts in the Renal Department and the Heart and Stroke Department at the TBRHSC. Had they

Are the pipes for fresh water more important than the people in this city. Spend that money on the cow trails we call streets instead.
