Oliver Road Robbery Busted Up

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – Yet another robbery happened in the city yesterday, this time it was the traditional corner store type.

Around 11:00 pm last night on Monday members of the Thunder Bay Police Service responded to a 911 call reporting a robbery in progress. The incident was reported to be happening at the Circle K at the intersection of Oliver Road and High Street.

Allegations are that two suspects entered the store and aggressively rushed the clerk demanding money.

Luckily, an off-duty Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service (NAPS) officer was witnessing the situation unfold and dialled 911 to get TBPS on location. The officer then approached the counter, identifying himself as a police officer and arrested one of the two suspects.

The suspect in custody of the NAPS officer became combative and was trying to assault the TBPS officers when they arrived. He was sent to Hotel Balmoral (police station) where he sat and waiting for bail court in the morning.

Shortly after TBPS arrived at the Circle K, the second suspect who fled the scene was located and arrested.

Two 25-year-old males, Michael Albert George Dampier (pictured) along with Anthony Duke Brandon King (send pics of King to tips@trcctb.com) were arrested and charged with:

  • Robbery

King was also charged with breaching his probation order.

Both suspects appeared in a Thunder Bay bail court Tuesday morning and were remanded into custody. They will remain at the Thunder Bay District Jail until they are granted or their matter is disposed of.
