Multiple Thefts from LCBO Lands Man Multiple Criminal Charges

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – It is no secret that the LCBO’s in Thunder Bay are dealing with thefts that occur every day, multiple times a day. Stores are doing their best to crack down on these “crimes of opportunity”, but the sheer amount of thefts committed makes it next to impossible to catch all of them. The ones that are caught, often end up re-offending or smartening up.

Today is no different, today Anthony Achneepineskum was in a Thunder Bay bail court facing allegations of pulling off two heists at a local LCBO store. The Thunder Bay Police Service executed an arrest warrant on Achneepineskum following allegations he stole from the LCBO located at 1095 West Arthur Street.

He is also believed to be the mastermind behind a theft that occurred from that same location on November 21st, 2018 where less than $100 worth of booze was removed from the property. Achneepineskum was on probation during both incidents and has some charges surrounding those as well.

Achneepineskum’s new charges are:

  • Theft under $5000 (LCBO) x2
  • Failure to comply with probation x2

The Crown states that Achneepineskum is in a “reverse-onus situation”, and that because of that he will have to show the courts why he should be released. There are concerns within the Crown regarding the primary and secondary grounds if Achneepineskum were to be released. Primary grounds means that the Crown doesn’t think it’s likely that Achneepineskum will return for court. Secondary grounds tells us that the Crown believes that the accused will either re-offend, become a public safety concern, interfere with the administration of justice, or any combination of the three.

Achneepineskum’s released would be considered if a supervisory bail plan were to be presented to and reviewed by the Crown, provided it was suitable. The Crown shuts down Achneepineskums possibility of being released today by not consenting to his release. He further requests that the Justice of the Peace order the accused not to contact one person while he is in jail.

Duty counsel states that criminal defence lawyer Leon Nicol, who is the accused’s lawyer, has left instructions to schedule Achneepineskum back in court for Monday, December 17th, 2018 by video. Her Worship grants the request. As the accused is about to walk off the screen, duty counsel reminds him to call Nicol ASAP.

Achneepineskum is sent back to the slammer and will wait at the Thunder Bay District Jail until at least his Monday appearance.

    1. I think your wasting your time. This guy clearly needs his alcohol. Talk to Mauro who is working with First Nations to open up more rehabs and shelters to give alcohol shots next door to the free injection site. That’s your best bet.

    2. Loops – It’s “you’re”!
It’s sounds like you’re losing the battle here. You’re not making sense anymore.

    3. Bubba lol your funny. oops!! You’re funny. Thanks for correcting my grammar. First of all this was a game and you kept score (btw you never told me who won or what the score was) but now we are at battle lol ok then.

  1. The government should hold back a percentage paid to all reserves and put it towards a treatment Center for drugs and alcohol. Once there is enough held back build it.

    1. Loops, I’m still waiting to hear what is spent on your Ethnicity per year. Regardless, we’ve tried the money way and as far as I’m concerned, it’s only made it worse.
      Let’s start with this.
Give every Native in Ontario 1 million dollars each. The stipulation is, there’s NO money after that and if you want to join the rest of society as one, I’m here with open arms. If you want to continue to segregate yourselves from the rest of the world, so be it. You’re on your own. Because, at the end of the day, it’s ALL about money. I don’t care what you say, THAT’S fact!
      What do you think?

    2. Hey Bubba , how about giving the million dollars to any Caucasian who wants to move out of this urban reserve , I for one would take it .
