(THUNDER BAY, ON) – Firefighters with Thunder Bay Fire & Rescue along with paramedics with Superior North EMS responded to a 911 call early Sunday morning regarding a home in the 100 block of Machar Ave.

Reports say that a dog is so far a confirmed fatality in the fire and that a male that was in the home was rushed to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre serious condition. Firefighters responded to the scene shortly after 3:00 am on Sunday morning and arrived to heavy smoke inside the structure accompanied by moderate heat conditions. A total of two people were recovered from the home including the previously mentioned male along with a female who was still alive at the time.

At this time arriving crews extinguished the remnants of the fire and cooled hot spots. It is believed the fire started on the first floor of the home in a couch.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation as the scene is being held by the office of the fire marshal. A Thunder Bay Police Service cruiser can be seen outside.

  1. Oh fuck these people, quite a few years back i got my head smashed in with a golf club on canada day and these people helped me out before the cops picked me up. I think i remember their dog. Pretty sure it was this house.
