(THUNDER BAY, ON) – Mayor of Oliver-Paipoonge, a small community on the outskirts of Thunder Bay has declared an emergency.
Lucy Kloosterhuis says that it rained before it snowed yesterday, which has resulted in very slippery and dangerous conditions.
She is urged residents to stay home if they live in Oliver-Paipoonge.
Further, plows are having a hard time getting onto the roads due to this situation.
Anyone that decides to brave the conditions may be doomed if they require emergency response as road conditions would make that take much longer than usual.
If you know of someone that lives in the Oliver-Paipoonge area that is elderly or vulnerable, it is advised you telephone them to check up on them.
