(THUNDER BAY, ON) – Another two beds have been reserved at the Hilton Emergency Department (hospital) for two very intoxicated people to sleep off their buzz under the watchful eye of a taxpayer-funded medical team.
The first intoxicated person was found passed out just outside of the Landmark Hotel. A person dialed 911 when the person would not wake up and an ambulance along with police was dispatched. The person was put on a stretcher and sent to the Hilton’s Emergency Department for further monitoring while they sober up from the booze.
Shortly after, a male was picked up near the Frederica and Brown streets area after being located near the back alley overdosing. A crack pipe was visibly hanging out of the man’s pocket. Once again, at least 3 police cruisers and paramedics responded to the scene and Narcanned the man back to life. He was later escorted to the hospital’s emergency department where he will sleep off his buzz before being let back out into the world.
Thunder Bay is in desperate need of a detox/sober up facility to relieve the pressure on the emergency department at the hospital.
Numerous REAL Concerned Citizens who have spent time in the emergency department have told us that they overheard drunk people swearing, shouting, and otherwise abusing emergency room nurses, doctors and staff in general. Beds are often taken up by intoxicated people who are not in an “emergent situation” and are just sleeping off their buzz before they head out into the world.
We were told by one source that a male had been sent to the emergency department for being too drunk, slept off most of his buzz and was discharged. After he was gone, a larger container of hand sanitizer was unable to be located. Within about an hour of his discharge, the male was returned to the emergency department and was drunk on hand sanitizer.
