(THUNDER BAY, ON) – CONVICTED KILLER AND ARSONIST ARRESTED AGAIN FOR ASSAULTING CITY BUS DRIVER.

ACCUSED TELLS THE COURT THAT HE DOESN’T WANT TO TALK TO DUTY COUNSEL.

Appearing this Tuesday January 29,2019 via video from the Thunder Bay Police Station in Courtroom 104 is 31 year old FELTON EARL SAKANEE

Her Worship, Denette Maslach is presiding. Provincial Crown Emily Delaney is here along with Duty Counsel Joy Wakefield.

SAKANEE is wearing a red shirt and is no stranger to the judicial system. He has a lengthy criminal record.

SAKANEE is originally from the Fort Hope Indian Reserve 64. He made his home in Thunder Bay after being released from jail for burning a police car years ago.

It’s alleged that SAKANEE assaulted a city bus driver on May Street at city hall and was witnessed by police doing so. He ran when approached by police. He was arrested after a brief foot chase.

SAKANEE is facing 2 charges of assaulting a city bus driver and resist police.

SAKANEE is asked if he wants to speak to Duty Counsel Joy Wakefield. He requests the matter to be put over to next Monday February 4,2019 by video so he can talk to another lawyer. He has no interest in speaking to Wakefield.

It was almost 3 years ago in April 2016 that EARL FELTON SAKANEE was sentenced to 5 years in prison for manslaughter related to the July 16, 2014 death of 44 year old Lloyd Oskineegish. SAKANEE was given 29 months pre-sentence custody credit. He was originally charged with second degree murder.

On November 10, 2011, SAKANEE set fire to an NAPS police car in Fort Hope outside a detachment member’s residence. The officer had to evacuate his family and call the Fire Department, but the police vehicle fire caused several small explosions and damage to the officer’s residence.

SAKANEE is transferred to a familiar spot at the Thunder Bay Jail.
