BREAK ENTER AND ASSAULT CAUSING BODILY HARM

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – One man was in custody following allegations that he broke into a home and seriously assaulted a person, causing injuries.

32-year-old Christopher Saari appeared in a Thunder Bay bail court this morning via video from the Thunder Bay Police station to begin the process of answering to the following charge:

  • Break and enter to commit an indictable offence (Assault cause bodily harm)

The break enter and assault causing bodily harm happened at an address on North Brodie Street yesterday.

Her Worship, Justice of the Peace Zelda Kitchekeesic was presiding along with Crown Attorney Pasloski along with a duty counsel lawyer assisting the accused.

The Crown indicates that Saari may be releaseable pending a surety examination of his father who has shown up in court this morning.

The matter is stood down so that Saari’s Father may be examined as a potential surety.

Once the matter is resumed, it has been shown that his father is a suitable surety, and the Crown states under which conditions she would consent to Saari’s release.

An$300 non deposit recognizance with surety is requested with the following conditions:

  • Reside at his fathers residence in Nolalu
  • Curfew of midnight to 6am except for work, medical or religious reasons
  • No contact with two alleged victims
  • Not to be within 100 metres of the home on North Brodie
  • No weapons
  • Must not apply for any weapons or weapons licenses
  • Not to reside where any firearms or crossbows are present

The defence agrees to the conditions and Saari is ordered released pending the completion of court paperwork.

He is escorted back to his cell where he will wait an estimated 2 hours to be released.

Sources have indicated that Saari is a Registered Practical Nurse.
