(PORT PERRY) – This morning a tow truck driver lost his life while on the job near Port Perry on Highway 12.
He was winching a vehicle out of the ditch that had lost control and slid into the ditch. While he was working, another vehicle came around the bend, lost control and slammed into the 56-year-old tow truck driver.
First responders declared him dead at the scene.
OPP Sgt Kerry Schmidt said that the tow truck was off to the side of the road with his amber lights flashing during the incident. He further wants to remind the public to slow down and move over when you are approaching first responders, including tow trucks, that are actively working on the roadway.
Next of kin is in the process of being notified, Police say that no further information will be released regarding the collision.
