(NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO) – Information has come across our newsdesk about a bad batch of “fake percocets” that have been flowing into our region for some time.
Fort William First Nation put out a public notice earlier this year, informing the public of these “bad pills”.
The pills are “fake” in a sense that black market criminals are making them out of fentanyl, and passing them off as percocets.
It is too easy to overdose on fentanyl, many people are not with us anymore due to drugs being laced with the harmful and dangerous drug.
Mishkeegogamang is the most recent community to have detected the fraudulently pressed pills.
Thunder Bay and surrounding area, including Fort Frances, Kenora, Dryden, Marathon, etc, had a steady flow of these fake pills for years now. Ensure you have a buddy with you and a naloxone kit if you are going to use these drugs anyways. You can get a free naloxone kit at your local pharmacy. Naloxone isn’t guaranteed to save your life in an overdose, but it will increase your chances of survival.
