Kenora Carfentanil DRUG BUST

On Friday March 9, 2018 at approximately 12:00 p.m. members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Kenora Detachment Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) arrested two individuals as a result of an ongoing investigation.

During the investigation, police located and seized what is believed to be carfentanyl with a street value of approximately $3390, $1015 in cash and drug paraphernalia.

John BERRY, a 30-year-old male from Winnipeg, was charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code:

Drive while Disqualified contrary to section 259(4)
Possession of Loaded Prohibited Firearm contrary to section 95(a)
Possession of a Prohibited Frearm contrary to section 95(b)
Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose contrary to section 88(c) (two counts)
Fail to Comply with Recognizance contrary to section 145(3) (seven counts)
Possession of a Firearm Contrary to a Prohibited Order contrary to section 117.01(1)
Possession of Ammunition contrary to a Prohibited Order contrary to section 117.01(1)
Carry a Concealed Weapon contrary to section 90 (three counts)
Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 contrary to section 354(1)(a)

Leanna KALTENTHALER, a 32-year-old female from Winnipeg, was charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code:

Possession of a Loaded Prohibited Firearm contrary to section 95(a)
Possession of a Prohibited Firearm contrary to section 95(b)
Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 contrary to section 354(1)(a)

Both of the accused were also charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

As a result of the ongoing investigation both accused were held in custody. The female accused will attend bail court on March 14, 2018 and the male accused will attend bail court on March 26, 2018
