Back to Back Drug Busts Involving Same Guy

(KENORA, ON) – On November 30, 2018 at approximately 12:30 a.m. officers from the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, Community Street Crime Unit and the Dryden Police Service conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle (sedan) on Hwy 17, in the City of Kenora.

As a result of the stop, Police seized 25 grams of Methamphetamine and drug trafficking materials. The drugs have an estimated value of $5000.00.

29-year-old Darren Burnard (need a picture) of Dryden, ON and a woman have both been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act.

Both accused were released and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on January 21, 2019 to answer to the charges.

A woman was named earlier, which is now under investigation as the person arrested may have given a false name.

** UPDATE: Dryden OPP have confirmed that the person arrested was not the woman they had named earlier. The investigation is continuing to determine who fraudulently impersonated the woman from Couchiching First Nation.

On December 18, 2018 at approximately 3:30 p.m. officers from the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, Community Street Crime Unit and the Dryden Police Service conducted a traffic stop of a pickup truck on Hwy 17, Kirkup Township (East of Kenora).

As a result of the stop, Police seized 58 grams of Methamphetamine, 29 morphine tablets and drug trafficking materials. The drugs have an estimated value of $11,600.00

29-year-old Darren Burnard, of Dryden, ON has been charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act.
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Other Drugs contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act.
  • Fail to Comply with Conditions of Undertaking Given by Officer in Charge contrary to Section 145(5.1) of the Criminal Code.

28-year-old Corinne Quoquat (pictured) of Lac Seul First Nation has been charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act.
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Other Drugs contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act.
  • Obstruct a Peace Officer contrary to Section 129(a) of the Criminal Code.

Both accused are being held in custody and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on December 21, 2018.
