(USA) – An anchor for MSNBC appears to have made a massive blunder on the day the Kobe Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter and 7 others lost their lives in a tragic helicopter crash.
While reporting on the incident, an anchor for MSNBC referred to the Los Angeles Lakers as the Los Angeles N******, which is a racial slur meant to degrade, dehumanize and otherwise insult people of African descent.
A number of people took to social media to call for the woman to be fired. The anchor, Alison Morris, the anchor, swiftly denies saying any racist terms in a tweet she sent out right after the incident earlier today.
“Earlier today, while reporting on the tragic news of Kobe Bryant’s passing, I unfortunately stuttered on air, combining the names of the Knicks and the Lakers to say “Nakers,’” Morris tweeted.
She continues “Please know I did not & would NEVER use a racist term. I apologize for the confusion this caused,”.
A change.org petition was launched calling for her to be fire. You can find that by clicking here.
