(CANADA) – Health Canada has issued a warning that the supply of the EpiPens in the adult dosage (0.3mg) are very limited.
Some pharmacies throughout Canada might currently have a supply of these EpiPens, but the supply will likely be decreased in the coming days and weeks.
The manufacturer called Pfizer Canada, has also stated that EpiPen Jr. (0.15mg) is at short supply and it is being monitored at a national level.
Pfizer Canada does not expect to get any new supplies until the end of August, saying that the cause for the supply shortage is due to a manufacturing issue.
Health Canada is alerting all Canadians that if you are experiencing an anaphylactic reaction it is ok to use an expired EpiPen but to call 911 directly after administering it.
There are currently no other alternatives to EpiPens available in Canada.
