Police Identify Fatal Highway 502 Crash Victim

(FORT FRANCES, ON) – On Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at 2:30 p.m., members of the Rainy River District Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Rainy River District Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Ornge air ambulances, Watten and Fort Frances Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 502, approximately 20 kilometres north of Highway 11.

The investigation revealed a northbound motor vehicle collided with a southbound motor vehicle. A passenger in the southbound motor vehicle was confirmed deceased at the scene. Both drivers were taken to the hospital by EMS.

The OPP Technical Collision Investigators also assisted in the investigation.

Highway 502 was closed for approximately 8 hrs and has since reopened.

The deceased has been identified as Jean STEELE, 87 years of age from Emo, Ontario
