(FORT FRANCES, ON) – On August 6, 2018, at approximately 11:06 AM, two members of the Rainy River District Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on general patrol on Portage Avenue when they observed two individuals involved in a verbal exchange near a business.

Officers approached the two parties to investigate the matter and as a result, one of them was arrested.

Dennis MORRISON, 30 years of age, of Couchiching First Nation Territory, has been charged with the following criminal offences:

  1. Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act,
  2. Four counts of Fail to Comply with Recognizance contrary to section 145(3), of the Criminal Code,
  3. Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to section 88 of the Criminal Code,
  4. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.

The accused is being held in custody pending a Bail Hearing on August 9, 2018 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Fort Frances.
