(THUNDER BAY, ONT) – On June 21, 2018, at approximately 4:40pm, an officer from the Highway Safety Division of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on patrol on Highway 11/17, in the Municipality of Oliver Paipoonge when the officer observed a driver contravening an offence under the Highway Traffic Act.

The officer conducted a traffic stop, and while speaking with the driver, the officer determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to detachment for further tests.

A 23 year old male, from Oliver Paipoonge, was arrested and charged with:

  • Operate a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 mgs of Alcohol contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code
  • Driving with Open Container of Liquor contrary to section 32(1) of the Liquor Licence Act
  • Speeding contrary to section 128 of the Highway Traffic Act

He is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on July 27, 2018 to answer to the charge.

On June 23, 2018 at approximately 9:57pm, officers from Thunder Bay OPP were on patrol on Highway 11/17, in the Municipality of Shuniah, when the officers observed a driver contravening an offence under the Highway Traffic Act.

The officers conducted a traffic stop, and while speaking with the driver, the officers determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to detachment for further tests.

A 33 year old male, from Sudbury, ON, was arrested and charged with:

  • Operate a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 mgs of Alcohol contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code
  • Driving with Open Container of Liquor contrary to section 32(1) of the Liquor Licence Act
  • Speeding contrary to section 128 of the Highway Traffic Act.

He is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on July 24, 2018 to answer to the charge.
