(REGINA, SK) – A married couple were on a cross-country tour promoting Canada’s dairy industry by driving a tractor.

The tour has ended Monday in tragedy when a transport collided with the tractor north of Saskatoon, killing 55-year-old Bettina Schuurman, from Elmira, On,  and leaving her husband Henk injured in hospital.

SaskMilk, a producer marketing board, confirmed the couple’s identity and said the family have been notified.

  1. Henk and Bettina stopped at my farm when they were in Thunder Bay celebrating the Canada Day weekend on their journey to promote Canadian dairy farms. They had a positive message and were making awesome memories as they travelled across Canada. What a tragic accident and sad way to have their trip come to an end.
