(GREENSTONE, ON) – Once again, the overworked officers with the Greenstone detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested 30-year-old Kyle Ritch.

Ritch is no stranger to the criminal justice system and had a media release regarding an outstanding warrant for his arrest issued by police on September 14th, 2019. That warrant was issued regarding numerous violent offences in which he was alleged to have been involved in.

Allegations are that Ritch assaulted a woman over a number of days spanning January 30th, 2020 and January 31st, 2020. Sources indicate that she was put through a glass window and a piece of that glass was used to hurt her, causing an injury. He is also alleged to have damaged her phone, impeding her ability to call for help.

Ritch appeared in a Thunder Bay Courthouse courtroom this morning via video link from the Greenstone OPP detachment. Justice of the Peace Marcel Donio was presiding along with Crown Attorney Andrew Sadler and criminal defence lawyer Emily Morris, who was working the duty counsel desk. Ritch is facing the following new charges:

  • Breaching bail conditions x2.
  • Assault (on a woman) x2.
  • Assault with a weapon (on a woman).
  • Mischief causing damage under $5000 x2.
  • Breaching a probation order made on March 29th, 2019 (keep the peace and be of good behaviour).

Ritch is still working on his other legal matters, which are still going through court. Those matters were the focus of the warrant which was put out for his arrest and in a media release in September 2019. Those charges are:

  • Aggravated assault.
  • Assault with a weapon.
  • Possession of a weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public.
  • Failure to comply with a probation order.

Ritch was previously convicted and placed on probation in March of 2019 for victimizing this same woman. He is not granted a release from police custody today and will remain in jail for the time being. He is going to be transported to the Thunder Bay District Jail where he will remain until at least Monday, February 3rd, 2020 when he is scheduled to appear in court for another swing at bail. His lawyer of choice is Gilbert Labine, who is expected to be informed of his clients’ situation.

Another gutless woman beating punk looking for some quality time in the big house.

Of course, Gladue will be there whimpering for him so that he ends up doing maybe two days in a sweat lodge. Meanwhile the victim goes without justice.

This isn’t the prick’s first go around either. Being a repeat offender, he needs some serious jail time. Not likely to happen though due to our two tier “justice” system and chicken shit JPs & judges.

Someone should give this coward a taste of his own medicine.

  2. Lmao I knew this guy from Hillcrest, knew from day one the way he used to beg for smokes or “shotty” off a cigarette, dude was steady mooching. Him along with Mike McDonald were called Mooch. Damn Kyle, I knew you’d turn out like jail bait. See how tough you are putting your hands on the dudes in prison

  3. Maybe the sad, two laws for two people, should be cancelled. And all like minded, or simple minded, aggressors should be declared dangerous offenders, with open ended lengths of incarceration.
All without any chance of parole- ever.
    No protective custody.
And no access to phones or internet.
