(THUNDER BAY, ON) – Addiction is a very serious matter that has taken a hold of a large amount of residents that live in Thunder Bay. Alcoholism is just another arm of addiction.
The Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre often has to deal with numerous intoxicated people, as the way our emergency services is setup, intoxicated people get rides in ambulances to the emergency department, often to sleep off their buzz.
But, every once in a while there is a remarkable situation that unfolds right before peoples eyes. Today was that day.
A woman can be seen taking a big swig of what looks to be a 66 ounce bottle of vodka while in the hospital, according to our anonymous source. Our source prefers to remain anonymous as our hospital has a strict “no photos” policy. Drinking in public and being drunk in public is a huge issue our city is facing. It doesn’t take long to drive around and find someone that is drunk off their ass.
There was a woman with her child, waiting next to this woman who abruptly relocated once the party started. The smell of alcohol was emanating from the woman with the bottle.
It is far more common for people to have a drink container and fill it up with the hand sanitizer dispensers in the hospital. They then consume the hand sanitizer for a buzz. PROTIP: If you tell the emerge staff that you are an alcoholic and withdrawaling, they will provide you with up to 1 ounce of alcohol per hour.
