(THUNDER BAY, ON) – Previously featured on the Thunder Bay Police Service’s “Wanted Wednesday” program is 42-year-old Andrew Robert Godfrey (A.K.A. “Bobby G”). Godfrey was arrested by officers with the TBPS and charged with breaching his probation.
He appeared in a Thunder Bay Courthouse (A.K.A. “The I Didn’t Do It Day Spa”) courtroom this morning via video link while in police custody at the Thunder Bay Police Service station (A.K.A. “Hotel Balmoral”). Her Worship, Justice of the Peace Denette Ellard was presiding along with Crown Attorney Katrina Van Kessel and expert criminal defence lawyer Tyler Woods.
The Crown tells the court that although Godfrey finds himself in a Crown-onus situation, which means the Crown would have to show the courts why he should remain in jail, court hears that there are concerns surrounding the primary and secondary grounds regarding his release. Primary ground concerns means that the Crown believes there is a substantial likelihood for the accused not to return to court. Secondary ground concerns tells us that the Crown believes that if the accused were to be released, that there is a substantial likelihood for the accused to either re-offend, or become a public safety concern.
Criminal defence lawyer Tyler Woods speaks to his client in private for a few moments. Upon return to court, Woods asks that Godfrey be remanded into custody and return in a Judge’s court on October 17th. What we can infer from this is that Godfrey is going to possibly enter a guilty plea on that date and hope for time served.
Her Worship, Justice of the Peace Ellard accepts the suggestion and order Godfrey to remain in custody until that time.
It is believed Bobby was the victim of a brutal assault in which the injuries appear severe sometime in 2018. Viewer discretion is advised due to the graphic nature of the video.
His alleged Facebook account shows a tattoo on his chest that says “Ruthless Crew” and the cover photo has the words “Manitoba Warriors” on it (pictured below).
