(THUNDER BAY & MISSISSAUGA, ON) – Investigators with the 11 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau were seeking assistance from the public in locating a man wanted for attempt murder after a shooting that occurred in Mississauga.
On Tuesday, August 13, 2019, at approximately 2:30 p.m., police responded to the area of Apple Blossom Circle in relation to a dispute involving weapons. Once officers arrived, a female victim was located suffering from gunshot wounds. The male suspect involved had fled the scene but was located by officers in the area of Sandford Farm Drive and Stargazer Drive in Mississauga. An interaction took place between the suspect and the officers at which point the suspect fled in a police vehicle. The police vehicle was located a short distance away after the suspect abandoned it.

Investigation identified the suspect as Michael Cleghorn, a 31-year-old man with no fixed address.
On November 14, 2019, Michael Cleghorn was arrested by investigators from 11 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on November 15, 2019 in answer to the charges of Attempt Murder, Assault, Theft of Motor Vehicle x2 and multiple firearm related charges.
The Special Investigations Unit has invoked their mandate in this incident and all inquiries should be directed to the SIU.
Cleghorn is also wanted for a gang-style murder that happened on Marks Street in June of 2017. Further, he is wanted for child sexual assault as well from the Greater Toronto Area.
