(THUNDER BAY, ON) – On August 23rd, 2019 a warrant for the arrest of 35-year-old Jolene Tait was issued when she had allegedly failed to appear in court regarding drug-related charges stemming from a Vickers Street raid that happened earlier this year.

The incident was sparked when a neighbour called in a robbery that had taken place where a victim was robbed of some jewelry at gunpoint. Police searched the home and located a large amount of cash and some drugs.

Tait was arrested yesterday and the arrest warrant was executed at 3:15 pm. She was held in police custody pending a court appearance that took place this morning via video link from the Balmoral police station.

Justice of the Peace Bruce Leaman was presiding over court this morning along with Federal Crown Attorney Ron Poirier and expert duty counsel lawyer Stella Vallelongo.

Tait was arrested on the outstanding warrant for her arrest. There was no new charge laid, although a “fail to attend court” seems to be appropriate, considering the circumstances.

Release from jail is not granted today and Tait is ordered to remain in jail for the time being. She is scheduled to return to court tomorrow for another swing at being released.

  1. It almost seems that these repeat offenders are wanting to go to jail. If not, why do they constantly flaunt the law? Oh, wait I know. Between gutless judges and Gladue, they’ve very little to fear.

  2. If I was a judge I would nail these criminals asses to the wall. Should get life for dealing drugs. If your a naturalized Canadian citizen your ass should be deported to your point of origin.Life, I mean life no past go and no get out of jail free card by claiming Addiction. When are the criminals going to pay while the innocent are victimized. These idiots need stronger deterrents. Period.
