(THUNDER BAY, ON) – A fire that raged on the exterior of a garage on McMillan Street has some suspicious details emerging regarding the incident.
Sources indicate that the garage may have been used for drug use and trafficking.
A woman who was on location when the fire is said to have started, claims she was inside the garage. People on scene told firefighters that no one lived inside the garage yet there was a TV, mattress, and other items consistent with a living space.
A fire had started on the exterior of the building, which is consistent with numerous other fires in the East End area recently. A number of those fire have been deemed suspicious and some deemed arson.
People familiar with the suspected “trap garage” tell us that they would often see people that appeared strung out on drugs lurking around and in the garage in question.
A “trap house” or “trap garage” is a location that is utilized for drug use and drug trafficking. There are a large number of these locations setup in town. Estimates peg the number around 100 but could easily be a number of times higher than that.
