UPDATE: Sudden Death Results in Drug Charge


(IGNACE, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Ignace Detachment are investigating the sudden death of a 37-year-old man of Burlington, Ontario which occurred on December 6, 2019 at approximately 8:43 a.m. on West Street in Ignace.

As a result of the investigation, Alfred WANZUK, 48-years-old of Ignace, Ontario has been charged with:

  • Trafficking in a Schedule l substance – Opioid contrary to Section 5(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act.

The accused appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice on December 10, 2019 and was held in custody.

Members of the North West Region Crime Unit under the direction of Acting Detective Inspector Karl Duewel, OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.

  1. Should charge him with manslaughter. In the States a woman got 12 years when she sold a fentanyl pill that killed a 38 year old
