UPDATED: Police Arrest May Street Shooting Suspects

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – Officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service have made an arrest in the early morning shooting death that took place on May Street.

Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of May Street North shortly after 2:30 am when gunshots rang through the back alley.

An male with an unknown amount of gunshot wounds was located in distress and was transported to the emergency department of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre where he later died around 3:30 am from the shooting injuries.

Police located the vehicle on the south-side of town near the Bombardier plant.

The high-risk arrest was performed by a number of officers. It is believed the shooting was directly involving the drug trade and gang members.

Two southern Ontario gang members have been arrested and will be held at 1200 Balmoral Street pending their court appearance set for tomorrow morning.

A third suspect is still at large at this moment.

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – Shortly after 2:30 am this morning, officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service responded to a call of a man being shot.

The victim was shot in the back alley behind a trap house in the 500 block of May Street North. This incident is directly linked to the drug trade and southern Ontario gangs.

Two men, described as southern Ontario gang members fled the scene in a vehicle. Their whereabouts are unknown as of yet.

Police are currently on a manhunt for the two individuals. One of which, they have arrested before and the courts released.

Police have the back alley and around the home sealed with crime tape as they continue their investigation.

The shooting victim was transported to the emergency department of the Thunder Bsy Regional Health Sciences Centre where he later died of his gunshot wounds around 3:30 am.

Aaron Small A.K.A. “Junior” is believed to be involved in the shooting. He is a suspected gang member from southern Ontario who was arrested in the same group of busts as Zara Keshk (bartender at the Midtown Inn) and many others.

The suspects in this shooting are urged to contact a lawyer and turn themselves in immediately.

History on Aaron Small:

On Monday November 12, 2018 Police executed search warrants on the 700 block of Pacific Avenue and the 200 block of Finlayson Street. A total of 8 people were arrested, 5 of whom were from the Greater Toronto Area.
In addition to those arrested, Police seized $22,000 in Canadian currency, paraphernalia indicative of drug trafficking, 170 grams of a substance believed to be Fentanyl with a street value of $85,000, 130 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine with a street value of $9,800 and more than 500 pills believed to be Oxycodone with a street value of $5,000.

The following persons were arrested and charged:

Jay Alexander, 18, of North York, Ont.
Anusanth Arulnothayarajakumar, 21, of Scarborough, Ont.
Zara Keshk, 28, of Thunder Bay
Walter Kis, 60, of Thunder Bay
Quwayne Miller, 24, of Scarborough, Ont.
Wendy Sampara, 51, of Thunder Bay
Aaron Small, 21, of Scarborough, Ont.

The 8th person arrested is a youth and thus cannot be identified.

All persons were charged with:

Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking X 2
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000

Keshk was charged with an additional Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.

In addition Aaron Small was arrested on outstanding warrants issued by the OPP for Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking X 4 and proceeds of Crime over $5,000.
