(NIPIGON, ON) – Allegations are that on New Years Day, 2017, then 22-year-old Christopher Barkley was involved in 4 sexual assaults which involved a youth victim. Allegations indicate that a “noxious substance” was administered which may have aided the sex crime to happen. The youth was also assaulted during the course of the numerous sexual crimes committed against her. She remains traumatized to this day, according to sources.
Barkley was also arrested regarding a March 18th, 2018 incident where he is alleged to have breached court orders while out on bail for these heinous allegations.
Officers with the Nipigon detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have once again arrested Barkley and held him in their custody pending a court appearance. He appeared in a Thunder Bay Courthouse courtroom on Friday, January 31st, 2020 via a telephone call from the Nipigon OPP detachment.
Presiding over court was Justice of the Peace Marcel Donio along with Crown Attorney Brachen and criminal defence lawyer Justin McConnell. Barkley is facing the following charges:
- Sexual assault x4.
- Sexual interference of a youth x4.
- Breaching probation.
- Breaching bail conditions x4.
- Administering a noxious substance.
Barkley is denied his attempt to be released today and is going to be transported to the Thunder Bay District Jail. He is scheduled to return to court on February 4th, 2020 for another swing at being released.
