(THUNDER BAY, ON) – Reports have hit our newsroom that have informed us about an incident that unfolded in a north side neighbourhood.

What we have heard is that a youth, roughly 14 to 15 years old, was walking on Melvin Avenue when a group of what appeared to be kids aged 14-19 jumped him.

The kid was beaten and robbed of his hoodie and backpack.

An adult from a nearby home came out of their house and shouted, interrupting the onslaught.

At that point, the group of kids scattered and fled the scene.

  1. Not knowing this area, perhaps someone could answer a couple of questions for me. Would this be considered a typically safe neighborhood? Do these gangs roam everywhere? Is there anywhere in Thunder Bay, that could be considered reasonably safe today?

    1. Anywhere that’s sufficiently far from the downtown cores to make walking there a chore and/or far enough away not to have a bus stop nearby. These useless lowlife punks never earn enough money to buy a vehicle so, the bus is their usual means of long distance transport.

So basically, residential areas near or past the outskirts of the city are relatively free of gangs and crime. However, anywhere within five miles of the downtown cores is prime crime areas.

  2. THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE FROM ALL WALKS OF LIFE THAT I VE TALKED WITH HAVE ONE OR MORE ITEMS THEY CARRY ON THERE PERSON IN T-BAY 4 THEIR SAFETY EXPECIALLY WOMEN – 4 IF CRIME IS THRUST UPON ONE EVERYONE KNOWS POLICE CAN T DO ANYTHING MOST OF TIME TILL AFTER ONES BEEN ATTACKED – FEW PEOPLE WILL STOP A CRIME IN PROGRESS – PATTY HAJDU KEEPING US SAFE WHAT A JOKE.
