(THUNDER BAY, ON) – On November 24th, 2019 officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service responded to a call for service at the Indian Bistro located downtown Port Arthur on Red River Road.
Allegations are that a charity donation box that was raising money for cancer had been stolen. An investigation was conducted and as a result a 42-year-old Jason Horus Crane was arrested and held in police custody pending a court appearance.
He appeared in court this morning via video link from the Balmoral police station. This morning, Justice of the Peace Anna Gibbons was presiding along with Crown Attorney Manon Arbour and duty counsel representative Joy Wakefield. He is charged with:
- Theft under $5000.
- Breaching a probation order made on December 13th, 2018 (keep the peace and be of good behaviour).
Crane was not granted bail today and is scheduled to return to court on Monday November 25th, 2019 for another chance at being released.
He is going to be shipped to the overcrowded and understaffed Thunder Bay District Jail where he is likely to remain until he is inevitably released.
