(RED LAKE, ON) – On September 28, 2019 at approximately 10:00 p.m., officers from the Red Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a motor vehicle operating in an aggressive manner on Highway 105 and Howey Street.

The officer initiated a traffic stop and subsequently made a demand for an approved screening device breath sample. The driver failed, was placed under arrest for Operation While Impaired, and was returned to the detachment for further tests.


As a result of the investigation William MCLAUGHLIN, 61, of Red Lake, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – 80 plus contrary to Section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code

MCLAUGHLIN was released by way of a Promise to Appear in Red Lake court on November 21, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. to answer to the charges.

Motorists who drive impaired by alcohol or drugs are subject to drivers licence suspensions, fines, vehicle impoundments, criminal records and increased insurance costs. Please drive responsibly, don’t drink and drive.

    Old, driving at night, vision not likely the best, reflexes slower than normal and drinking on top of that? Hope the a-hole learns something from this.
