(THUNDER BAY, ON) – HARDWORKING THUNDER BAY POLICE OFFICERS ARREST ALLEGED DANGEROUS DRIVER.

A 29 year old CHARLES LAWSON appeared in Thunder Bay Video Bail Court before Her Worship, Justice of the Peace Denette Maslach from the Thunder Bay Police Station on Balmoral Street.

He’s facing 3 charges of:

  • Dangerous Driving Causing Injuries.
  • Fail to Remain at the Scene of a Collision.
  • Driving without a license.

 

Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch were dispatched to a serious collision on the city’s north side at about 8:15 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 2019
A three-vehicle collision occurred at the corner of Windsor Street and Clarkson Street South. Firefighters with the Thunder Bay Fire Rescue and paramedics with Superior North EMS were also dispatched to the scene.

An investigation revealed a van travelling northbound on Clarkson Street went through a stop sign at Windsor Street without stopping.

At the same time a car was turning onto Clarkson Street from Windsor Street and was struck by the van.

The car flipped on to a nearby boulevard, at which point the van struck another car that was heading southbound.

Several pedestrians had to leap out of the way to avoid being involved in the collision.

When police arrived they learned the male driver of the van had fled the scene on foot.

Meanwhile the female driver of the second car involved had to be extricated from the vehicle by firefighters and transported by paramedics to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for treatment of unknown but non-life threatening injuries.

Police later identified and located the driver of the van. He was arrested and charged

Crown Attorney Jane Ann McGill is opposed to releasing him because he has a lengthy criminal record with several convictions of non compliance with court orders

CHARLES LAWSON IS HEADED TO THE THUNDER BAY JAIL.

His lawyer of choice is George Joseph and he’ll make a video appearance in court from the jail on Monday October 28,2019

    They’ll drop all charges, fix the car and help him get his license. Only reasonable right?

    Bet this guy was loaded when it happened. Dodged that bullet by leaving the scene.

  2. He’ll probably claim he had a tough childhood and be let go. He obviously doesn’t give a shit about anything.
    It’s too bad he survived the crash.
