Child Porn Bust – Jason William Sparling

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – Once again, hardworking officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service (TBPS) have made yet another child pornography bust in Thunder Bay.

Allegations are that on November 1st, 2019, 42-year-old Jason William Sparling (a local high school teacher) accessed child pornography along with possessing child porn. Sources indicate that he had over 100 images of child porn. His computer and cell phone was seized.

Police obtained and executed a search warrant at a home in the 100 block of Robertson Street on Tuesday Nov. 26.

Sparling was arrested and held in police custody at the Balmoral TBPS station. He appeared in court this morning via video in front of Justice of the Peace Ray Zuiliani. Crown Attorney Emily Delaney was also present along with a law student from Gil Labine’s office. Sparling is charged with the following:

  • Accessing child pornography.
  • Possession of child pornography.

Court was stood down for a while.

UPDATE: Once court resumed, bail was denied and Sparling is scheduled to appear in court on December 3rd for a bail hearing. Due to a publication ban, no further information can be published at this time.
