(THUNDER BAY, ON) – A brutal and vicious assault that has landed a woman a bed in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre erupted in the early morning hours of December 8th, 2019.
Allegations are that a 33-year-old Brian Wyre assaulted a woman which resulted in her needing medical attention. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the incident. Hardworking officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service (TBPS) conducted an investigation and as a result have arrested and charged Wyre with assault.
The investigation is ongoing and his charges may be upgraded later on, once the womans injuries are fully known.
Wyre appeared in a Thunder Bay Courtroom this morning via video link from the TBPS station located at 1200 Balmoral Street.
Justice of the Peace Anna Gibbon was presiding along with Crown Attorney Katrina “Lock ’em UP!” VanKessel as well as a duty counsel worker.
Court did not grant Wyre release from jail today. He is going to be shipped off to the overcrowded and underfunded Thunder Bay District Jail, where he is likely to remain until at least his Wednesday, December 11th, 2019 court appearance. He will have another swing at bail at that time.
