(THUNDER BAY, ON) – Overnight, a violent incident unfolded on the notorious Picton Avenue which has ties to the child tax benefit payment that went out.
A resident in the area tells us that they were alarmed when they heard a woman screaming and shouting outside. The resident tells us that they went to the window to see what was going on.
A man was brutally beating his girlfriend, demanding her bank card. The beating went on for some amount of time as the woman screamed.
Multiple 911 calls were made and police dispatched to the scene. Shortly before police arrived, the man held the woman by the hair and was bashing her face into the pavement. As police pulled up, the man dragged the woman over to the curb of the road.
Police made an arrest and paramedics arrived and started to help the woman. She was sent to the hospital for further treatment of her injuries.
The names of the victim and perpetrator are being withheld to protect the identity of the children who had their child tax spent on drugs and booze.
