Assault with a Knife on a Woman, Adam Patabon Arrested

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – 36-year-old Adam Patabon is no stranger to being charges in relation to assault with a weapon involving a knife or edged weapon. He has been to court on numerous occasions for similar charges.
Patabon appeared in a Thunder Bay court room this morning via video from the Greenstone OPP detachment. He appeared in front of Her Worship, Justice of the Peace Zelda Kitchekeesic, a Crown Attorney and defence lawyer Ron Poirier.
He is facing new charges stemming from a September 13th incident where a woman was assaulted with a weapon (knife) and also had her death threats directed at her. Patabon is facing the following charges:

  • Assault with a weapon (knife).
  • Uttering threats to cause death.
  • Breach of probation (not attend area trailer parks).
  • Breach of probation (keep the peace and be of good behaviour).

Patabon was placed on probation in April of 2019. The Crown states that they are opposed to his release based on secondary ground concerns. Secondary ground concerns indicate that the Crown believes that there is a substantial risk of the accused to either re-offend or become a public safety concern.
Poirier requests to speak to his client privately for a few moments. After that discussion, a request is put forward to have the matter return to court tomorrow. The Justice of the Peace grants the request.
Patabon is ordered to remain in jail until at least tomorrow, where he will have another swing at getting released. He is going to be transported to the Thunder Bay District Jail where he will wait until he is released from jail.
