(WINNIPEG, MB) – A serious collision has shut down a section of the perimeter highway just outside of Winnipeg, Manitoba today. RCMP have stated.
One person is dead after a transport reportedly slammed into the rear end of the vehicle which was then smashed into another vehicle in front of it, according to a witness on location.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police announced the death early this afternoon a number of hours after they closed the eastbound lanes of the highway at Brady Road.

The incident happened around 9:00 am local time. No information on the persons age or gender have been released.
A witness on location said that a transport that was hauling rocks while speeding abruptly switched lanes to avoid rear-ending another transport. At this time the transport ended up rear ending a small passenger car, slamming it into another vehicle that was in front of it.
First responders remain on scene and the eastbound lanes are expected to be closed for most of the remainder of today.

Police have asked for motorists to avoid the area and plan alternate routes for today.
The westbound lanes of the perimeter highway remain open to traffic.
