(TERRACE BAY, ON) – UPDATE: No fatal injuries were sustained according to our sources. Emergency services have cleared the scene of the motor vehicle collision east of Terrace Bay at the Steel River Bridge. Highway is fully open. Highway 17 is still slick so please use caution and drive accordingly.
EARLIER: Our tip line just lit up with reports of a serious highway collision that just happened east of Thunder Bay on Highway 17.
Our tipster tells us that a transport and a truck smashed into each other in a head on fashion. 511 reports that Hwy 17 – Terrace Bay, at Steel River Bridge both lanes are blocked due to a collision. Traffic control is in place. Please use caution in the area.
The incident is said to have happened on Highway 17 just east of Terrace Bay.
Details are thin at this point, but we are working hard to uncover more information as it becomes available. Hardworking police, paramedics and firefighters are on location sorting out the situation.
We are uncertain of injuries at this point, but considering the circumstances reported, it’s likely that there were some.
