Police Foot Pursuit Nets Break and Enter Charge

(LONGLAC, ON) – Just before midnight on February 27, 2019, members of the Greenstone Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police were on patrol in the town of Longlac when they observed two suspicious persons near the rear of a parked tractor trailer on Queen Street.


Officers approached and located the two individuals breaking into the trailer and both suspects fled the area on foot. A short foot pursuit ensued, resulting in the arrest of one of the suspects, who was taken into custody without incident.

Austin SHAGANASH, 20 years-old of Ginoogaming First Nation, ON has been charged with:

  • Failing to Comply with an Officer-in-Charge Undertaking
  • Failing to Comply with a Recognizance.
  • Break and Enter.

SHAGANASH is scheduled to appear by video in the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay, Ontario on February 28, 2019 to answer to the charge.
